About Edward Zaski
Award Winning // Sound designer + Composer / Toronto
Edward Zaski is an award winning Toronto-based composer and sound designer whose formal training and love for new sounds and technology has resulted in a unique approach to music and sound effects treatment.
The diverse nature of his musical and production background make for an extraordinarily vast palette of influences to draw from when writing or scoring. His passion for organic textures, synthetic timbres, traditional musical values and fringe sonic interests, keep his creative edge moving forward.
Over the past 25 years his talents have allowed him to work in all facets of the music production industry. He has written music for television, film, web, radio, as well as dance companies. As an audio engineer, he has recorded and done post-production on countless commercial and film projects, from recording announcer to final mix.
It’s always been Edward’s goal to meet the expectations of the client in new and unique way. His creative experience, skills and resources have kept him with his head down to the soundboard for over two decades.
Today he writes and produces for music houses, agencies and clients seeking a flexible and creative mind that is sensitive to the project at hand.

Edward passion for music began at a young age, and his formal schooling began at the Royal Conservatory of Music where he studied classical guitar. Upon graduating high school, Edward decided to pursue his passion at Toronto’s York University, where he studied Music Composition. He also studied scoring for film, taught by the renown Academy Award® nominated film composer Louie Appelbaum. In addition to traditional harmonic theory, he also studied Electronic and Multi-Media Composition with celebrated composer Phillip Werren, and 20th Century composition with James Tenney.
While at University, Edward earned himself a position as a resident composer for the Dance Department. He wrote many pieces for students and faculty members, and toured Canada with York University Dance Ensemble performing original compositions live. After graduating, he continued to create and collaborate with some of the most recognisable names in the Toronto dance community, including Donna Krasnow (Canadian Childrens Dance Theater), Jean Louis Morin (Martha Graham Principal), Pascal Desrosiers (Toronto Dance Theatre).
After graduating from York University, Edward continued studies in Audio Engineering at Toronto’s Harris Institute where he earned three scholarships for academic excellence. After graduating, Edward found himself working in studios with talented engineers that made it possible for him to learn his craft. His early day included working in long format post-production including Imax films (screen credit for Across the Sea of Time). From assistant, to dialog editor, sound designer, recordist, engineer, mixer, composer and finally producer, Edward has been a part of nearly every aspect of audio production.
COMPOSER, COMMERCIAL MUSIC
Throughout his career, Edward has always been busy composing scores, sound effects and musical mnemonics for national television commercials. He has written spots for all types of products: major auto manufacturers; banks, investment firms and credit cards; sporting-goods and department stores; not-for-profit organizations such as The Red Cross; liquor stores and beer companies; restaurants; and a variety of household good and services. You name it, and Edward has written a spot for it. Edward enjoys finding ways to bring a new dimension to the visuals, whether it is the direct scoring of the moment, or stepping out into the realm of the expected] His diverse musical background makes it possible to spin things in a variety of new directions. But sometimes, all it takes is a simple track with a cool groove to do the trick.
COMPOSER, ANIMATION and SERIES
Edward has composed music for many successful television series and movies, such as Wonder Planet, Little Questions, the Running Zone, and Wrong Block. In 2016, he scored the television series “Ride” for Nickelodeon. Edward has also written music for numerous web cartoon series. He has scored many projects for Mondo Media including SharkMan-City in Crisis, Crack Duck, The Line, Guru and Goat, Dee Tremendous and Alien Admission. His work on CRIME: The Animated Series is one of many exciting collaborations with Style5.tv., and marked his debut at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.
