Liquor Depot – Hockey
Case StudiesLiquor Depot – Hockey

It’s great when you get a brief and see the first edit of a spot and you get excited because it looks like fun. There were 6 in the series. Here are 3 of them starting with the one in the brief.
This is how that client exchange went.
The Brief
Hello (((e))), please find attached two versions of the total 6 to come. The idea is that the overhead spot light comes on, you can hear ambient NHL hockey noise, maybe an organ, pucks etc. With the Hat Trick version, we need to hear the opening of the three beers before we see the corresponding caps falling. Like psst…psst, psst.

>Hey.
I got the stuff.
Wow
I have a concept frame for this project. It has all the elements that we discussed (earlier).
Light breakers switch at the top, various crowd and hockey ambi percolating throughout.
Organ
These can be played up and down. Or weeded out.
Them the booze moment.
I think we should go from real world to cinematic sound design musical.
This is what I was thinking.
I like this one, but it would be my intension to make each one unique.
We would go somewhere magical.
Ahhhh booooze.
Then snap back to reality.
Perhaps using a skating power stop and a board check, or a slap and goal sounds.
I’m pitching everything down and slowing the sfx and foley elements to match picture.
It’s a good creative project.
I have to find a metal trash can lid for the foley on Hatrick. That one is tricky.
If you think this sounds good I will keep it up.
Remember this approach leaves a lot to the mix session too.
Check it out.

>Thanks man, all sounds great. Trash can away, Foleyman!
